The diversified economy of Northumberland is home to several existing and growing sectors. 
Three key sectors are:

Manufacturing

Northumberland County has an impressive manufacturing sector that includes over 120 companies by which over 7,000 people are employed.   Some major companies that call Northumberland County home include:  General Electric, Dart Cup Ltd., Dresser Wayne Canada, Cameco Corp., Kraft Food Canada, and Weetabix Canada.  With its location , between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal on Highway 401, its transportation industry, and its skilled and abundant workforce, Northumberland County is an excellent choice for manufacturers. 

The recently established  Northumberland Manufacturers´ Association specializes in reducing skills training and development costs and networking local manufacturers to promote the sharing of best practices.  The benefits of the NMA can already be seen and excitement is spreading throughout the Northumberland manfucturing sector.

Tourism

Northumberland County welcomed over a million visitors in 2004.  With world-renowned fishing and kilometres of wonderful hiking and biking trails, Northumberland County attracts tourists with active and healthy lifestyles. 

Northumberland is also a place where people come to relax and indulge.  Ste Anne´s and Elemental Embrace are just two of the many wellness spas that soothe thousands of people every year.  Residents of the GTA have to travel only an hour to find peace and serenity.

Agriculture
