Marketing
Marketing is one of Northumberland Tourism´s key services. It includes developing and implementing programs to build year-round awareness of Northumberland; motivating new tourists, encouraging repeat visitation and increasing overnight stays. Marketing activities include:
Developing a 15-month promotional plan which incorporates advertising and promotion, media and travel trade familiarization tours, consumer/trade shows and web-based marketing.
Producing the annual Northumberland County Official Travel Guide, a key tourism marketing publication.
Producing specialty publications promoting various tourism activities. Projects may be in collaboration with other corporate partners.
Enhancing the www.northumberlandtourism.com consumer web site by integrating keyword advertising to raise Northumberland's internet search engine prominence and help drive consumers to the web site.
Developing print ad campaigns to motivate travel and increase overnight stays.
Maintaining an interactive online tourism business directory.
Cultivating media interest and coordinating media trips to Northumberland to increase travel media coverage in various mediums: newsletters, world wide web, radio, television, magazine and newspaper; attending Travel Media Association of Canada Marketplace, and GoMedia Canada Marketplace for international media leads.
Expanding partnership networks (such as Getaway Country) to increase marketing opportunities; work in collaboration with other corporate/government partners.
Participating in consumer shows such as the Toronto Motorcycle Show, Outdoor Adventure Show, The Toronto Sportsmen's Show and Canada Blooms, which target our key segment markets by promoting our tourism assets and keep Northumberland "top of mind" with the travelling public.
Increasing communication and collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and their marketing agency the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation.
Nurturing group tour and motor coach relations to encourage growth in this sector; work with group tour-friendly tourism operators. Coordinating FAM tours and assisting in site inspections.
Building and maintaining the Northumberland tourism stock photo image library as a resource for travel media, tourism/government agencies and for internal use in both print and web-based marketing.
Managing a tourism call center which responds to consumer and travel trade inquiries, and which provides travel information and brochure fulfillment.
