Reducing Clogs
A simple task of putting a sock over the drain going from the washing machine drain will cut down on clogged drains. The sock will act like a lint catcher.
Septic Systems
- Excessive overloading of your septic system with water will eventually saturate the ground. By doing too many loads of laundry in one day you may flood your septic system
- Do not use your septic tank or sewer as a garbage disposal unit. Cooking grease and oils, hair gels, paint, varsol, paint thinners, all automotive products, and anything that will not breakdown in water not only is hard on your system but is an environmental hazard.
- Do not drive any type of vehicle, car, snowmobile or four wheeler over your septic tank and leaching bed in the winter time. Snow acts as an insulation and compacted snow may allow frost into the ground and freeze the system so the system can not be used.
