Landfill & Transfer Stations

L & TS - Locations / Tipping Fees /

Winter hours now in effect until March 31st

Northumberland County's Landfill and Transfer Stations are being rebranded as Community Recycling Centres.

Northumberland County residents may deliver residential waste, tires, drywall, construction and renovation materials, scrap metal items, large bulky items that are not collected at curbside (i.e. furniture/mattresses/white goods), leaves and brush to the Brighton Landfill, Seymour and Bewdley Transfer Stations. The Hope Transfer Station is for residents living in Ward 2 only and only accepts household trash, recycling, and scrap metal.

  • Waste loads must be tarped and secure to prevent littering.
  • Obey signage when entering compound
  • Unload safely
  • Charges apply to all loads of waste delivered to the landfill.
  • All sites, except for the Hope Transfer Station, accept clean loads of leaves and brush year-round.
  • If you needed help loading the truck, likewise, make sure you have help unloading too.

Visiting the County's Waste Management Facilities (landfill and transfer stations) will be a pleasant experience if you follow these steps:

  • Upon your arrival you MUST immediately report to the scale house where an attendant will be happy to help you.
  • Once the attendant has given you instructions, follow the directions to the disposal areas.
  • Please follow all signage posted at these sites.
  • Make sure you know where your materials should be placed.  If in doubt, ask!
  • Once you've completed dropping off your material, return to the scale house where the attendant will issue a receipt.
  • All vehicles MUST report back to the scale house unless otherwise directed.

Your Safety is our Priority:

  • Dress appropriately - do not wear flip flops or sandals
  • Children and pets must remain in the vehicle
  • Do not back your vehicle up to the extreme edge of the curb to throw off material and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Avoid standing on the tailgate of your vehicle.

Secure Your Load with a Tarp

Help keep Northumberland County clean - tarp and secure your load before heading out to the landfill or transfer station.  Insecure loads are a safety issue for other drivers and create an unsightly mess in our beautiful County.
