Trial / Resolution Meeting Option

Option 3: Trial Option

You can exercise this option by signing the Trial Option which is Option 3 on the back of your ticket and mailing to the address indicated.

A trial date will be set and a Notice of Trial will be mailed to you indicating your trial time, place and date. It is your responsibility to advise the court office of any change to your mailing address. Please note a change of trial cannot be requested by phone.

If an agent is representing you, you must authorize the court to mail the Trial Notice to your representative in the space provided on the bottom of Option 3 on the back of your ticket.

Requesting a Resolution Meeting with the Prosecutor:
The County of Northumberland provides for the option of having a Resolution Meeting with the Prosecutor, if you do not wish to have a fully contested trial.

You can exercise this option by writing "Resolution Meeting Requested" on the bottom of Option 3. This will allow you to discuss your charge with the Prosecutor in a pre-arranged meeting in an effort to resolve the matter without going to a formal Trial. The investigating officer does not attend the meeting. If the matter cannot be resolved, your trial option remains available to you. If you are unable or fail to attend the resolution meeting, a Trial Notice will be mailed to you.

It is your responsibility to advise the court office of any change to your mailing address.
