Emergency Planning

Basic Emergency Management Training - The member municipalities of Northumberland County are hosting a Basic Emergency Management Training Course. The Course is certified by Emergency Management Ontario as prerequisite to many specialized emergency training courses.  The content provides an introduction to the basic concepts of emergency management in communities.  The course is suitable for any person with an interest in emergency management.  The duration of the course is three days. There are two options for the training. Each option has the same content.

Everyone should be prepared to take care of themselves and their families for up to three days in the event of an emergency or disaster.

 "PREPARE NOW, LEARN HOW"

Northumberland County and its constiuent municipalities are responsible to assess high risk hazards and plan to protect citizens.

Northumberland County will provide assistance to the municipalities during an emergency. The local and county community control groups will coordinate for response with police, fire, emergency health services, public works, and evacuation shelter. Emergencies requiring extraordinary measures may require a Declaration of a State of Emergency and the assistance of the Provincial and Federal Government.

Everyone should learn what hazards are in their commmunity and how to protect themslves.
