Financial Services
Finance is the control centre for the County's almost $87 million budget. It continues its role of financial support to all departments, from the budgeting process to the payment of invoices and receipt of revenues. All departments are given monthly reports through Great Plains Accounting Software. This enables managers to receive consistent monthly statements of operations. Efficient purchasing and accounting processes are being refined.
The 2009 budget was approved by by-law on March 4, 2009.

Did you know that in 1988 the County's Roads construction budget made up of Provincial and County tax dollars was $3,955,820 to fund resurfacing projects on the County Roads system? At that time a tonne of asphalt cost $35.00 . By 2001 the Province had downloaded 150 kms. of former Provincial Highways to the County but the County's roads capital levy which was cut back year after year was then only $368,000. A tonne of asphalt had increased in price to $48.00 by 2001. In 2008 after five successive years of painful budget increases the Roads Program budget is now at $3,850,000, that same level it was in 1988 but the County roads system still has its former roads system plus the 4 downloaded highways. A tonne of asphalt in 2008 was $100.00. |
