Children's Services
The County of Northumberland is designated by the Ministry of Children's Services, as the delivery agent for services to families and children. It is the role of the Children's Services Manager to plan and manage the delivery of children's services, within provincial legislation, directives and guidelines.
As reflected in Northumberland's Child Care Plan, we are committed to a service system that:
- cares for children in a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment
- is flexible, of high quality and provides choice
- supports the needs of families, caregivers and children
- provides enriched supports to children at risk or with special needs
- fosters and enhances healthy child development
- works in collaboration with community service providers.
Northumberland County Children's Services is responsible for the implementation and administration of the County's Child Care Plan; the Learning, Earning and Parenting program; National Child Benefit reinvestment funding; child care fee assistance and special needs resourcing.
