EarlyON Centres

EarlyON Child & Family CentresEarlyON Child & Family Centre

Starting in January 2018, all provincially-funded child and family programs will be offered under a single umbrella: EarlyON Child and Family Centres.

EarlyON Centres will operate in place of Ontario Early Years Centres (OEYCs). These new centres will offer high quality early years programming, supporting children from birth through elementary school to reach their full potential. In addition, these centres will offer resources for families such as parent workshops and service referrals, as well as programs specific to the needs of each community, such as housing supports, literacy training, food security, and recreation opportunities.

Locations

Early years programming will expand in Northumberland from 5 OEYC locations to 10 EarlyON Centres, plus outreach programming in additional communities. There will be at least one centre in each municipality. The Ontario Government's vision is that these centres be located in schools, where possible, so Northumberland County is currently working with local school boards to identify available space.

Some EarlyON Centres will begin moving to school-based locations in the summer and fall of 2018. There will always be at least one EarlyON Centre in each municipality.

Program planning for EarlyON Centres will be done in collaboration with service providers and Community Advisory Committees made up of local families.
